Advice on travelling abroad with baby?

Hi guys.

I'm just booking my babies first holiday, its 10 days in Portugal at the end of April. It will be his first birthday whilst we're out there so I was wondering what items I would need?

Do you take your own nappies or just take some and buy the rest out there? As I'm thinking it will probably be a lot. Including swimming nappies. Obviously plenty of milk as he is bottle fed.

What about car seats etc? We will have a shuttle transfer to the hotel but will we need one for that? We plan on going on a couple of day drips (zoomarine, water parks etc) which will be on a coach, do we need car seats for that or will he sit on our laps?

He wears a sleeping bag to bed so what tog would you advice?

Is there anything else you could advice? Or does anybody have a handy list of items, that would be great.

Thanks so much

Car seat - take yours with you and make sure it's well packed and marked fragile

Nappies - take enough for journey and first 24h, then buy them at destination

Swim nappy - we've always used a reusable one, Happy Nappy and wrap.

Sleeping bag - just take your usual one, assuming your accommodation will be a comfortable temperature at night (it won't be boiling at night in April will it?) At that age we had night and day gro bags and took them both with us IIRC.

Don't forget sun protection: baby sun cream, sun hat, UV swimsuit, maybe baby sunglasses (although DS hated his!)

We never took car seats, just sat them on our knee on the coach.

Always took enough nappies with us in the case, they don't take up that much room.

Inflatable swim seat thing is worth taking and mosquito plugs/repellent
