Filtered Milk or Cows Milk?

Anyone tried filtered milk? What is the difference?

My 18 month old tosses and turns all night and doesn’t seem to sleep well. He stays still during his nap during the day though so wondering if he’s in some sort of discomfort at night.

I’m trying to eliminate what it could be. He has 8oz cows milk before bed which I think might be the culprit (or teething as he always got a tooth coming out).

Wondering if filtered milk might be better as it has less lactose....anyone had any experience?

I was wondering whether it’s reflux, but he’s never had it as a baby so not sure whether it’s that either.

I dont think it does have less lactose

It does if you buy the stuff without lactose! Ultra-filtered can be lactose free.

Nutritionally though - I've no idea whether it's a viable replacement for normal cow's milk. Would you do better to use lactose-free formula for the experiment?

Ah okay, I thought filtered had less sugars?

He had normal formula just fine. It’s when he changed to cows milk...or it could be teeth. I just don’t know.

Lacto free formula and milk is expensive! He still has 16-18oz of Milk a day. One of those lacto free cartons would last me a day!

At that age he only needs around 350mls /12oz of milk. Filtered stuff like Cravendale only has impurities removed.

Same problems when swapped to cows milk but DS was coughing and bringing it back up. Swapped to soya toddler growing up milk.

It’s more likely teeth if he’s got teething coming through.. try some calpol & see if you notice a difference.

If you think it might be a dairy issue, you probably need to look at completely non cows milk. How are his poo’s? They’ll probs be a bit peculiar if he’s reacting to the cows milk. My DD has the worst upset stomach when we switched. We had to go back to formula and re-introduce very very gradually. That did the job, she’s been fine on it ever since!

He has about 2/3 poos a day, not explosive or diarrhoea though.

I really don’t know what it is. Wish he could talk.

My little one is a wriggler in bed and she moves positions constantly is he waking? If not then I don't see a problem very rarely does anyone sleep in one position all night! Napping however is different it's a hour or so not like a full nights sleep?
