My daughter is 5 weeks old tomorrow she is doing well and feeding great but I’m worried about the stuffy noises she makes especially at night almost like she can’t breathe something, she almost sounds like a dinosaur sometimes. I’ve tried the saline drops and bought a humidifier online but nothing seems to be helping.

Anyone any ideas?
Is this normal or should I be worried?

My daughter was like this, I used to say she sounded like a dinosaur too!
It was just that she had a stuffy nose but if you’re worried you can always get it checked out.
Have you used the Calpol Vapour plug? It’s amazing and has helped massively when she’s had a stuffy nose. She’s nearly 6 months now and suffering from a cold - used the plug last night and she slept peacefully. Give it a go! I’m pretty sure it’s suitable from birth.

OP, sorry I just checked the box, it’s 3 months plus! My mistake.
When she was younger I used the Calpol saline nasal spray, that helped a lot. Also one of those snot suckers - sounds gross I know! I’ve forgotten the name of it but if you google you’ll see what I mean. But it worked well for her, gave quite a bit of relief. Good luck!

Have you tried sitting in the bathroom with the shower going to create some steam? May help clear the stuffiness.

Another one I had suggested to me was to prop up their bed slightly at the head end just to stop all the Mucas gathering

As well as what you have already tried, you can get a bubble bath for children from Asda, called vapour bath, it's in a blue bottle and it costs under £1. I have checked the bottle and there's no minimum age (yay). I've found it really helps my boys have a better nights sleep when they have snuffy noses 🙂 hope she feels better soon!

Dd had a very stuffy nose for a few weeks after birth. We used a nasal aspirator and saline drops, which helped. Tbh newborns are quite noisy sleepers in my experience, both of mine were until about 8 weeks old or so.

Ah I'd wondered if there was something like this about.

I'll be getting some of that for my DC as they seem to have a permanent sniffle of some sort Smile
