6yo bed time

How does yours work?

DD is an only child and that has possibly led to her being a bit clingy and us having too much time to give her attention Grin

I'm trying to encourage a bit more self-sufficiency and I'd love to know how bedtime goes for your 6yo? I'll share ours later! Wink

DS is about to turn 7. He's been going to bed at 7pm since the age of 3. I hope this continues.

Thank you! I didn't so much mean the time they go to bed, but more - what's does the bedtime process look like?

Sorry, got stuck in the bedtime shenanigans 🙄

So, I have to hang out in his room after the bedtime story until he falls alseep. Lights off, no talking, just hanging out next to the bed. Sometimes he's asleep in 5 minutes. Other times it can be a good 15-20 minutes, which is annoying but in the grand scheme of things I have no more energy to do anything about it.

I have a 5 year old... upstairs at 6:30, bath or wash, teeth brushed and bedtime story in my bed then into his room and kiss goodnight

Thank you for sharing! DD used to be a terrible sleeper, so I wasn't sure if my perspective was skewed.

She is now pretty good, we do bath / shower, then into PJs & teeth. She has a story and then a couple of songs (feel like she is too old for songs, but we both love it....?). Then kiss and lights out. I have got into quite a good routine and she will go to sleep by herself but DH struggles as she won't let him leave until she falls asleep so he can sometimes end up spending over an hour in there which I think is too much! I was wondering how many of her age group still get the same level of attention.
