Calpol help - 8 week old

Hi,
My daughter had her first set of injections today. The nurse said “ the good thing with calpol is you can give them a dose every 4-6hrs”. The information paperwork I was sent home with says to give 3 doses. The calpol leaflet says for 8 weeks not to give more than 2 doses! I’ve just rang the doctors and he said to me to follow the instructions on the calpol leaflet. I’m just like wtf ! It’s already been 6 hrs since her last dose. I’m thinking if I give her another one now she may not sleep tonight and get really irritated. Her temperature hasn’t risen yet either so I’m thinking to just wait ? She also isn’t crying atm.
I’m debating on ringing 111 just for a second opinion from a doctor as all the information so far has been to contradictory. But I thinking there just going to throw another amount into the mix.
Any advice, what has everyone else done.

Thanks x

Is that for the meningitis vaccine?

Selfsettling3 · 10/02/2020 18:22

I was told to give two doses. NHS websites says follow the instructions in the medicine and calpol says to give two doses. I would just give two doses. How many has she had already?

Yes and a long list of others. Three injections she had in total x

I think you’re overthinking this. Does she actually need the calpol? She’s got no temp, not irritable and not crying so surely this is a non-issue?

We were told 3 doses, 4-6 hours apart to prevent a fever. I double checked with the pharmacist because this was contrary to what it says on the leaflet, but he said the leaflets are always ridiculously conservative and that we should follow what the nurse said.

This leaflet?

It says 3 doses.

It is important to give it because it is prevent an uncontrollable high temp.

Its 3 doses you need to give. It's the advice for after the MenB vaccine

babybrain77 · 10/02/2020 18:26

Also, at 8 weeks, the babies tend to spit out a fair bit of the calpol in any case!

We were told they have to have 1 dose within hour, it's a good idea to give 2nd 4-6 hours after and if there is a fever can give 3rd but fever should show within 6 hours of jabs
