Cut dairy out of my diet as mainly breastfeeding plus he has a couple of bottles of nutramigen 1 a day but baby is still suffering from rhinitis. Shouldn’t it have gone? He has reflux too and has omeprazole but I think he probably has an under developed oesophagus

How long have you been cutting dairy out of your diet for? I think it can take a couple of weeks to see an improvement.

Are you under a dietician and consult for your care? How has it been confirmed that your baby has a dairy intolerance? It could be other foods like soya etc in your diet are also a factor but you need to be very careful with what and how you cut out foods and take proper medical advice.

I'm assuming that as you have nutamigen that you are getting medical support.

8 weeks is very young to try omeprazol and cutting out dairy. You need to give things time to settle to see if things improve

It takes 6 weeks for it to be out of both your systems. Some allergy babies don’t get on with any formula. About half of babies with CMPA can’t tolerate soya too as the proteins are very similar.

What are the symptoms?
You need to cut out all dairy in everything including traces in cakes, crackers etc. Read every packet. Its difficult. Soya and other mamalian milks often aggravate severe CMPA.
Nutramigen 1 is an EHF. If the allergy is severe and you have cut out all traces for a period of time, switch to an amnio acid formula such as nutramigen Puramino.
If rhinitis is the only symptom this could be caused by something else.

The omeprazole was originally given due to the reflux severity but a lot of none reflux symtoms then lead to the cmpa diagnosis. Have discussed with gp and paediatrician. There has been a big improvement since going on nutramigen and me cutting out dairy (completely in things too) but I just wondered if anyone found their baby still had a blocked nose after cutting out the dairy/cows milk.
I don’t actually eat soya (stopped when stopped dairy) apart from the soya lechin in things... doctor told me to start soya couple of days ago as said it’s too hard to know what exactly is causing things if you stop various things at once. Perhaps the rhinitis is still there as I give more breast than the formula now and as it takes 6 weeks to leave your body as someone mentioned
It’s only been around 2
