Baby screaming, stretching and curling up for 5 min periods this time every night

Hey we have a 3 week old baby and the past few nights he has been screaming in pain for 3-5mins every 25 minutes for a couple of hours and stretching then crunching up in a ball and stretching again over and over.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? Any suggestions on what we can do? He is formula fed and already on infacol

Sounds like wind. Is he falling asleep during his bedtime feed and not having a good burp? I was scared to burp dd after she fell asleep during her bedtime feed as I didn’t want to wake her up but she’d wake up a little later in a similar way to your ds.

Burp lots during a feed, every five mins or so.

Have you looked at paced feeding? It’s much better for baby, they control how much they want to have, rather than guzzling their milk and making their tummies hurt.

Could be trapped wind, try regular burping to slow feeds down and a little bit of tummy massage to release it

Yes definitely rings a bell, it gets better after a couple of months.
Basically they have no idea how to burp or get the gas to the top, also their digestion is not even remotely mature, so you have to do everything and hope the gas comes out. And even then it is only half the solution.
In the end once they get older it seemed to improve. But it's very frustrating. Ours is nearly 4 months and often still has a load of screaming late at night and we just try everything

So relieved everyone seems to be saying the same thing. We will try burping at closer intervals and see what happens.

He is taking 4oz even tho he is only 3 weeks and 6lbs 15oz but finishes the bottle.... should we give him less at smaller intervals or would this not make a difference?

Also - how long should we burp for?

Pace his feeds and burp after every 2oz. If he’s still curling up then try burping after every 1oz.

Paced feeding! It works wonders.
