Hi. My partner is Spanish and has lived in London for 25 years.

He has separated from the (Spanish) mother of his children, two of whom (age 17 and 11) live with him (their choice) in London.

Their mother returned last summer to live in Spain with their third daughter (14) (also daughter's choice).

All children have Spanish passports; British passports cannot be applied for for another ten months.

The mother has refused to authorise her 11-year-old daughter's visit to the Spanish capital this month. My partner is concerned she will keep his daughter in Spain. Obviously he will not send his daughter to Spain if that is a possibility, but this is query of mine is set more in the long-term. He appreciates he needs to legalise things if necessary but never wanted to go down that route.

As we wait for legal advice, does anyone have any knowledge of this type of issue? I hope I have provided enough factual details but please let me know if more are required.

I truly appreciate any information. Many many thanks.
