'Sleeping through the night'... Questions!

Hi everyone, I'm curious about what people's experiences are if their baby is sleeping through the night...

  • what hours arae your baby sleeping through (e.g. 7 til 7)?
  • is it that your baby just isn't waking for feeds? Or is your baby actually not fussing/grunting/wriggling/waking you up at all for the whole night?!
  • is your baby sleeping in their own room or with you?

Thanks!

Mine sleeps 7 till 8/9. He tosses and turns but he never wakes us up on monitor.
He is in his own room.

We cheat as we give a dream feed about 10.30pm (DD slept through 7-7 twice without one last week for the first time but then fell ill and her sleep went to pot!) but I count it as not having to settle the baby (feeding or otherwise) during the night - so if my daughter wakes up but self settles, I’d count that.

She slept through (with a dream feed) from 3-5.5 months and since then has patches of waking up once and patches of sleeping through. Bedtime is 7pm, she wakes up at 7am and has been in her own room since 6 months.

Mine started sleeping through at around 6 months, in her own room. Once I'd moved her she stopped waking me up and we stopped waking her up!

She's 2 now and sleeps 7pm-8.30pm on non-nursery days, 6.30pm-7am on nursery days (we have to wake her).

My DD is about to turn one and mainly sleeps through 6.45ish to between 6 and 7. She does wake up overnight sometimes but doesn't often require resettled or for me to go in there. She will just wake, grumble a couple of times and go back to sleep herself. Occasionally she will need me to go in and just reassure her or stroke her back, but not hugely often.

We've had periods of great sleep and really really poor sleep. First slept through at 6 weeks but then by 1yo was up 6-8 times a night. Reliable at sleeping 7-7 (or later) from 17mo.

Stopped having bottles in the night at about 6mo (his choice) so was just waking up!

10 month old DS sleeps 6.30pm to between 6 and 7am and has done since approx 4 months. His night feed just gradually got pushed further and further back and once it got to 4.30am we started pushing it back so that it was eventually 6.30am.
He’s a solid sleeper but if he grizzles at night he usually goes back to sleep himself.
The exception is when he’s teething or poorly, like this week for example, he has a cold so we’ve been up with him at least a couple of hours each night.
He soon goes back to normal though.

Forgot to say he went into his own room at approx 5.5 months as we were disturbing him when we came to bed. Plus he’s super noisy!

Dd slept through the night at 3.5 years. She stopped having a feed at 9 months. She slept with us (I wasn’t getting up and walking around the house in the middle of the night, I have better things to do).

Ds started to sleep through most nights just before 2. He was feeding during the night til around 14 months. He mostly sleeps in his own room if he doesn’t wake (I get up for work at 5:30, again better things to do! If he’s poorly he’ll sleep with us as he sleeps better).

18 month boy slept through on and off but finally slept through consistently about 11 months old. Sleeps 7:30-7:30. Stopped waking for feeds maybe about 10 months ish.

The two things that made a big difference to sleep was moving DD into her own room and starting solids. Currently 13months and she sleeps from 7 to 8:30 with two breastfeeding wake-ups around midnight and 4am. Those are relatively easy as she'll whine, I go to her room to give her boob and she falls asleep immediately afterwards. I'm usually half asleep myself and just feed her on a play mattress on the floor (side lying) with my eyes closed.

It's not technically sleeping through the night, but a huge improvement to half a year ago. When she slept in the same room with us (0-7 months) she woke up every 2-3 hours, 3-4 times a night and that was brutal. She also started sleeping for longer stretches after 10 months when she was on 3 full meals a day. Eating a big dinner might have kept her full for longer.

None of mine ever slept 7 - 7
