Do any of you use silk liners?

I'm thinking about getting some of these, having heard they're good for nappy rash..
Can anyone recommend them (or not!)? Thanks

Yes - I've used them on dd and can highly recommend them. I've no idea why they work, but they do.

I find them best to use overnight when they're less likely to poo so they get the full benefit of the silk next to their skin for a long period of time.

The rash is dramatically better by the morning, if not gone altogether!

Very bizarre, but one of my best discoveries.

you're not meant to machine wash them, but I have to say I drew the lin at handwashing nappy liners, and mine have survived ok and are still miraculous.

presumably you could make your own out of old underwear?

bobsmum · 01/09/2007 18:17

It has to be raw silk which is unbleached - looks very odd and not silky in the slightest. So your best M&S undies would not do the trick at all

Most (all?) of my old underwear isn't silk anyway

FlameBatfink · 01/09/2007 19:58

Silk's great

NappiesGalore · 01/09/2007 22:04

flame told me you can soak them in chammomile tea for extra healing properties

FlameBatfink · 01/09/2007 22:28

The chamomile is soothing, and if they are over 12 months use some honey in it too for healing properties

AMAZING things really helped poor dd's shocking nappy rash, she doesn't get it any more, I use them at nighttime only. How clean does everyone get theirs? Mine are rather poo stained and I'm afraid to wash them too vigourously, they just get chucked in with the prefolds at 40 deg. (Which by the way do not get very clean and I have to strip them regularly am I doing something wrong? I do a wash with pre wash, dry pail them, use Ecover Non bio and vinegar in the fab cond bit....? And they smell yukky )

harrisey · 26/09/2007 23:34

I did. They were fab for my dd2 who had bad nappy rash and was allergic to disposable nappies, cant recommend them highly enough.
