My 16 week old baby is 90% breastfed but since birth has had a formula top up each night. He’s always taken well to both methods of feeding.
However, for the last 3 weeks he’s been EBF due to my partner being ill and then him getting a cold - I thought if I breastfed exclusively he’d get maximum antibodies to help protect him from the bug my partner had, and then to help with his cold.
Since then, he now refuses a bottle. We’ve tried offering it with formula or expressed milk, different times of day, as a dream feed, warmer temperature etc.
Can anyone help with advice please on how to encourage him to accept a bottle again?
I’ve been and bought new bottles and different flow rate teats incase he’d gone off the ones we were using too.
I’ve also tried feeding him myself, then stopping to offer bottle before then continuing to feed him, and also have had my partner and my mum try too.
Has this happened with anyone else and you’ve successfully been able to reintroduce bottles again?
Advice gratefully received!!
