Trapped wind

Hey guys,

Our wee boy is 10 days old and has recently started getting really upset during the night. We struggled settling him and looked up the cry types which said based on the noises he had lower abdominal trapped wind.

Any tips on how to get rid of this? Nothing we try seems to work

What have you tried? Infacol works well for some babies. Also doing bicycle legs when they’re lying down, not too soon after a feed.

Burping mainly and tummy massage. I looked at infacol but wasnt sure if colic and trapped wind were the same thing.

Can I give that at the time or do I need to wait for next feed?

I’m not an expert but it joins small air bubbles together to make bigger ones that can come out the top or bottom end. You give them one pippet of it before a feed. It’s like mildly orange flavoured pva glue and my DD loves it.

DD never had colic but she’s always been incredibly windy, still is at 10 months, some babies/people just are I think.

A dummy after a feed helps settle her and as she’s got bigger wins passes easier but she still sometimes cries a bit before arching her back and doing a massive stream of farts. Poor thing.

Hope your son feels better soon, it’s awful seeing them in pain.
