Hi there, this is a thread on behalf of my sister as she’s asked me to try find out some advice on constipation and ways to help with it!

Her little one is 1 years old and struggles almost everyday with constipation, he does eat porridge for breakfast, drinks his bottles of milk etc and she tries to get him to eat as much veg as she can, mostly peas and sweet corn!

Does anyone have any home remedies, food ideas, anything that helps or relieves constipation?

Thanks Smile x

Drinking more water is always a good start. Fruit usually helps. My dds likes raisins at that age.

P food, prunes, peaches and pears. He should be drinking water from weaning from 6 months. If it’s been going on a while he may need medication.

Wholewheat cereal, such as Weetabix and Shredded Wheat, instead of porridge. No more than half a pint of whole cows milk, not formula. Tinned prunes, mashed. They go nicely with Greek yogurt, or to sweeten the breakfast cereal. If these measures do not work, then see the GP for medication.
