Reflux advice anyone

My LO has bern diagnosed with reflux from 1 week old, he was on gaviscon until we started to notice no difference and he was still vomitting alot, we stopped any meds to see how he was but it started to get bad again, we tried anti reflux formula but he hated it so the doctor prescribed 3ml of omeprazole which he took for a cpl of weeks but we noticed no difference. On his 6 week check the doc upped his omeprazole to 5ml as he was heavier and prescribed gaviscon again. Ever since we started his omeprazole he screams in pain abt a cpl of hours after, he even screams when winding which he never did. Has anyone else noticed this with this tablet? Im at my wits end with it and dont know what else to do. My doctors dont really seem that bothered as hes gaining weight but i cant bear seeing him in pain. I bought HIPP organic to try but not sure if it will make any difference.

Anyone tried chiropractic help? My chiropractor said he deals with reflux in babies but im not sure about it?

The two things that helped my baby with horrendous reflux:

  1. Removing dairy from his diet.
  2. Taking him to see a cranial osteopath.

How expensive is a cranial osteopath? What do they do?

I second exploring if it’s CMPA.

May not be related but the first week when DS goes back onto gaviscon he's really windy and constipated until his wee tummy gets used to it. The GP has us try him without every few weeks to see if it's cleared up and the transition back on to it is hard.

Ranitidine was the only thing that brought any relief to DS.

I'm not sure if there's some kind of issue with it at the moment though?

The medication gives our DD constipation we was recommended by SCBU to give premade formula until she had a poo, now we give one premade formula a day and she’s regular as clockwork.

@WoodliceInSunderland it's been recalled due to it being contaminated with something I think.

@Babs5693 was that gaviscon or omeprazole?

Babs5693 · 29/01/2020 09:25

Both have side effects of constipation so to help her digestion one off her bottles of milk is premade formula so not powder and it works.

Thank you @Babs5693 I'm going to give that a go.
