4 year suddenly petrified of bedtime

Hi all any suggestions please.
4 year old girl has always been a perfect sleeper, slept through from a few months old, self settled etc etc. She has a one year old brother who is still in with us (he will be eventually be going in with her)
The past few weeks she has been petrified of going to bed. Doesnt want to be left on her own, crying, super frightened. I have asked what the matter is and she said she doesnt want to be alone.
She has a small night light and her comforter from birth. Nothing has changed.
Any ideas on helping her settle again? Would it help her brother being in with her? Reluctant as the fuss she creates going to bed will wake him!!
She doesnt wake in the night, just getting her in bed which is distressing for her x

Had this with our 4 year old son. It started after we saw something at the theatre and one of the characters who was supposed to be funny scared him.

I said that I would browse on my iPad in our bedroom next door and he was happy with that knowing someone else was upstairs with him. When he drops off I would then head downstairs. Over the course of a few weeks he gradually weaned himself off the fear. A few months on and he will once in a while ask for me to lie in my bedroom while he goes off. Doesn’t take him long though and nothing like as scared as he was when it started.
