Baby been eating C&G jars - Tesco

Err.. My baby has been eating the recall jars, in fact she had one last night 😳

It doesn't say in the report as to what they mean by "tampered" with. What to look out got etc.

I'm really scared 😢

Anyone else?

They can't release any more information as there is an ongoing police investigation.

The risk only extends to 7month+ jars purchased from Tesco. No other retailers are affected. Jars can be returned to Tesco for a refund. All batch codes/all expiry dates.

Advice from Tesco and C&G is to see a healthcare professional if your baby has eaten a jar and seems unwell. Although this doesn't seem entirely practical - how does the healthcare professional diagnose without all relevant information? And the amount of babies probably in A&E today who are just teething but have eaten a jar and seem unwell... another strain on our NHS. Well done C&G and Tesco, well done.

@hookiwooki

She's on the 7+ from Tesco and has eaten quite a few of them 🙄 She's not been well for past couple of weeks with streaming cold and just general grottiness. C&Gs response has been shockingly bad 🤬

It would help if they at least said what to look out for Hmm

@JiltedJohnsJulie

Exactly. Nothing. Just if you are concerned contact HV or Primary Care source. There are rumours that metal was placed in A jar. Who the fuck messes about with baby food?? 🤬 Sickos.

The metal was Heinz in December. Nothing has been released from C&G, particularly nothing detailing the nature of the tampering.

As it happens, my 18 month old had one of the recalled jars last night (not a regular thing, I promise. I was absolutely stuck and it was getting late, so he had it as soup with a few other things). He has allergies, some unknown, which cause a variety of symptoms. He often has little flare ups and until more information is released I won't know if it's the jar or his allergies. So I'm not without empathy.

There are a few idiots out there who target babies. I remember seeing a Facebook post a couple of years ago. Someone had put drawing pins under a changing mat in a baby change facility.

Just in case anyone has missed it, the recall is here.
