Any detergent that is suitable for delicate fabrics should be OK, but may remove more of the lanolin than wool shampoo. Just use the minimum amount of detergent necessary to get poo and poo smells out - if you're careful, you may get away with not washing the whole thing, iyswim. It shouldn't need lanolising again after one wash, so try it: if it leaks or still smells of wee after it has been aired for a few hours, then it does need lanolising.

Personally, I wouldn't use the washing machine even on the wool cycle, because it will spend more time in soapy water, which will take more of the lanolin out.

ok i have spot washed the offending area - its were the poppers overlap anyway so there would be two layers there so have hung on line to see how we go - disaster averted! thanks - suprisingly unmessy to remove too - oooo you cant beat a bit of poo scraping just after breakfast lol!!

The things we do for our kids .

Dd has got a couche too - it came with a dress, nappy and wrap set she was given for her birthday. I'm really impressed with it!
