Mamia Formula

I know it's Aldis own brand, but I have heard that the actual formula is just one of the bigger brands just repackaged...

Anyone know who actually makes it?? 🤷‍♀️

All formula is so tightly regulated there is barely any difference between any of the brands, whoever makes them.

dementedpixie · 22/01/2020 11:33

There are certain levels of nutrients that all formula has to contain so does it matter who makes it

The reason I ask is that for financial (and thankfully local) reasons I started DD on Mamia 1st stage and she's now 7 months and I want her to move on to follow on. But I have now moved are am now nowhere near an Aldi store so need to move on to a "big brand" but want to keep it as close as possible to what she has been having.

Follow on milk is not advised.

Starshapeddreams · 22/01/2020 12:37

My HV said follow on milk is a scam, they make it because they're allowed to advertise and put it on offer.
Nutritionally your daughter will be fine on stage one milk. As pp said all the milk is tightly regulated, we had DD on cow and gate stage 1 as it was nearly £2 cheaper than the other big brands

Bol87 · 22/01/2020 12:59

Follow on milk is technically pointless, they sell it because they are allowed to advertise it whereas they can’t advertise first stage. Nutritionally they don’t need it.

However, we still swapped as you can collect things like Boots/Tesco/Sainsbury’s points on follow on milk but not on first milk. They are also allowed to do reduced price sales on follow on milk as well. We bought so many tubs that collecting points was worthwhile & got us money off another shop!

OP, sounds silly but go into a supermarket & take a photo of the ingredients of Aptamil, Cow & Gate, SMA etc, then come home & compare it to your Aldi one! You’ll probs find they are all extremely similar!

Mamia is meant to be the same as Aptimil

Cheers... After looking I plumped for C&G. Has sunk all 3 bottles, so she must like the taste of it!!
