I am hoping someone can help reassure me or pass any advice ?

My 5 year old has autism and doesn't understand being sick he ha has what appears to be a stomach bug over the last 24 hours and has been sick a various period over the day. But he was lying down and I could hear him as if the sick was coming up and then going back down I told him just to let it come but it he seemed like he was trying to keep it back eventually he did spit up a tiny amount but I am now panicking what if he swallowed it and it some might have gone into his lungs ( I read an article on this the other day where a child died )

So I am in full blown panic mode now can anyone please help ?

He is lying down now having cuddles

Hello lovely, you are tired and things always seem much worse at this time .
Is he breathing comfortably?

Mum7b · 21/01/2020 01:48

Thank you for the reply. BlushYes he is just sitting slipping a drink at the moment. He is breathing fine, it's awful when they are ill I am sitting watching him like a hawk now we'll even more now if that's possible.

Unless he's coughing, wheezing, his eyes are watery and he's saying things like he feels hes got something stuck in his throat im sure he's absolutely fine.

If you are worried about him aspirating while hes laid down, maybe bring him in bed with you and keep him on his side it might help you worry less Thanks

Thank you again for your quick reply and reassurances has nodded off lying next to me now . I have him in with me now I should probably be trying to sleep too.

He seems fine normal breathing no wheezing, he wouldn't be able to fully explain anything stuck in his throat but he is sipping water so I that must mean it's ok. ?

If he was in discomfort he would try throat clearing, his voice might sound different etc . Changes in his usual pattern of breathing.

As he is sleeping now , try to keep him on his side and get some rest for yourself.

Your right he would do something and I would know. Thank you again for replying 😊 I will try and get some sleep now (panic mode) is gone x
