Back to work after baby!

So I am back to work tomorrow after having our baby girl now 6 months. I was made redundant during my maternity leave so it’s a new job also which is even more nerve wracking! My previous job was working from home so going back to an office 8-4.30 is going to be a shock to the system!!

Any words of encouragement? Dreading leaving my baby, she will be staying at home with my husband so she’s well taken care of - I will just miss her so much. Confused

It will be fine. Enjoy the hot cups of tea/coffee and adult conversation.

I was worried about going back, but it all fell straight back into place! Being back at work is such a break, you get to move about without a small person, pee whenever you want and drink hot beverages. Plus have whole uninterrupted conversations!

You'll be great, starting a new job is daunting. Just take it easy on yourself, and remember everyone takes time to get to grips with a new role.

I think the weirdest things about going back would be the faff of having to get baby too nursery or child minder and then the discomfort of leaving them with strangers. You won't have either of those to contend with so although you will miss baby, it will not be quite so emotionally difficult.

No words of encouragement, just wanted to let you know you're not alone! I go back on Tuesday and leaving my 9mo is filling me with dread 😬 but I'm just going to enjoy the hot drinks, being able to use the loo in peace and adult conversation. I feel like it will make me appreciate my time with DD a bit more 😊

Are you going back full-time or part-time?

I went back last year after a year of blissful maternity leave. Explored lots of options; nanny, au pair and nursery and in the end I opted for a lovely Montessori nursery and a live in au pair. This made my life immeasurable better.

I dreaded going back to work after such a long break but it hasn’t been all that bad at all actually, I had a promotion and really love the people I work with.

You’ll be fine.

I'm going back tomorrow too! My DD is going to a nursery near our house. I love my job and am looking forward to seeing my old team again, but I'm dreading all the time apart from her. I have to drop her off by 8am latest and will only be able to collect her at 6pm so it's a really long day for her.

Things I am looking forward to:

Adult conversation
Lunchtime opportunities for shopping and exercise
Not having to serve and clean up 3 meals and 2 snacks a day
Earning money!

Hope I will be able to add more after tomorrow. Good luck!
