Rural areas within an hour or so of glasgow

What are nice villages to live within an hour or so of glasgow

Looking for wee cottage style house with original features oh and and to expensive,,yip I know asking for a lot ,but you gotta ask 😎

Ayrshire has a lot lf wee villages and not everyone is from 'the scheme' 😉

Agree, Ayrshire is the place. Loads of wee villages, Sorn is lovely.

I live in in tiny village on the South Lanarkshire/ Dumfries and Galloway border. The houses are cheap as its classed a remote village, but its just about an hour to Glasgow and over a an hour to Edinburgh. Great if you have young kids but would maybe be too boring/isolating for teenagers.

I grew up in Dumfries and Galloway about an hour from both a Glasgow and Edinburgh, would definitely recommend it. Love going back. Public transport links not brilliant but unless you live in a city now where is?

Crosshill, minishant, Ballantrae and Colmonell are all nice villages in South ayrshire. Longer than an hour from Glasgow though x

I'd second the suggestion made by MadamShazam. I'm pretty sure I know where that is (well, one of two). Great place to live, cheaper properties and just under an hour to Glasgow x

Some of the villages in Renfrewshire are nice - Houston etc although they may not be in budget. Some of the Argyll and Bute villages are also within an hour of Glasgow and would be Ok price wise.
