Reflux baby chokes on breastmilk

Hi
My baby has quite bad reflux. He used to bring up most of his formula (i mix feed) so was moved onto the thicker one which he now keeps down. However, he now has silent reflux so we can hear him constantly having to swallow and he seems to be in pain. Anyway, i’ve been building up my breastmilk supply by mostly breastfeeding and it’s been going well. However, he seems to choke on it! I realise i may have a fast let down so i’ve been letting him suck a couple of times, removing the nipple to allow him to swallow etc but he gets REALLY annoyed when i do this. I just BF again for a couple of minutes, with him sitting upright rather than laying down and he choked again (sounds like he is gulping for air) and it’s really scary. It’s making me not want to BF in case he chokes and stops breathing. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Have a up spoken to a BFC OP? I think calling one of the helplines and talking this through might be useful.

Have you got the helpline numbers? Smile
