Baby and cold sore - panicking

Hi my daughter is 5.5 months. I have had a cold sore for about 1 week and today she was waving her hand around and her fingers touched the cold sore. She then stuck her fingers in her mouth before I could stop her. Now I'm freaking out as I know virus can be dangerous for babies. Not sure if there is anything I can do other than keep an eye on her? I'm in Ireland and we don't have equivalent of NHS Direct I can ask 😔

This has happened to me a couple of times and it has been fine. It is frightening but you can only do your best to protect them which you are doing.

Like you say I don't think there is anything you can do now it has happened, but it's highly likely your dd will be fine. Also unless the cold sore is weeping it's unlikely to be contagious from a little touch x

I find all the creams useless, but just recently tried the compeed coldsore patches and they were amazing! It was only a small one, but seemed to heal up so much faster than usual. Makes a nice barrier between baby fingers during the night (I co sleep) and coldsore too :) I'll always be keeping some in the house now.
