My children will not eat any fruit or vegetables (apart from cut up apples) and peas with pure force. But this is the thing - they are not toddlers they are 13 and 11!!. A little bit of background - I breastfed both of them neither ever had a bottle or formula. I then pureed and prepared all their food from scratch using lots of different fruit and veg. They would both eat anything until 2 yrs and 11 months and my DD started rejecting any fruit in normal form ie cut up grapes, strawberries, bananas, along with veg brocolli, carrots, suede. I had several battles with her as a toddler but as soon as fruit or veg in normal form was put in her mouth she would spit it straight back out . Every mealtime I put it on her plate and every snack time I tried fruit always rejected. I did exactly the same with my second child he ate everything until 2yrs 11 months and f and v rejection started. I spoke to my mum and she said neither me or my brother ever ate any fruit or veg - we gagged. It wasnt such a big thing back then so she didn't worry. I remember not liking fruit when i was about 12 but now I eat loads of f and v as does my brother. My 3 cousins were exactly the same as us apparently but 2 of my cousins now have children and my cousins son had this same rejection but not till he was 4 (spits out and gags!!) and my other cousin has just text me her son 2 yrs 11 months has today rejected all his fruit!!!! This is weird, As adults we all eat at least 7 portions a day but had this spit and gag reflexs as kids. Has anyone else heard of this? I really worry for my kids and I don't make a thing of it but they are more scared of gagging now they will not eat it. They have a pot of baby fruit puree a day and half a cut up apple. I have tried smoothies but my son spits it out before he even has a chance to taste as he says it burns him. It is just i am sure he isn't used to the acidic taste. Generally apart from lack of fruit and veg they eat a balanced diet and not too much junk food just a real lack of fruit and veg. I try not to stress because if they following the pattern of the rest of the family by the time they are late teens they will eating fruit and veg!!!! I have tried literally every single fruit and veg you can possibly buy!!!

I stopped stressing my daughter was never going to eat because i wanted her to.So i adapted i blend carrots and bell peppers into tomato sauce as it can easily be hidden. And i mix a liquid multivitamin in her yogurt .She only eats bananas but better than nothing

Forgetting the fruit for the moment, as it's not totally necessary, what happens if you serve pizza? Will they eat the tomato in that? Pasta with a smooth pureed tomato sauce? Shepard's pie with carrot and onion in the meat? ie if the veg is mixed into the meal will they eat it?

The obvious answer is to put veg into sauces etc but I'm presuming, since this has been going on for 10 years, that you've tried that?
