Hi ladies. Just looking for some advice, 3 week old hasn't had a poo since Sunday. Looking to see if anybody has any tips on how to help him go. His lower belly is hard which a friend has said means his constipated.
Thank youSmile

Breast or bottle fed? Are they having wet nappies?

Rosehip345 · 15/01/2020 20:19

Circular motions on belly
Diluted orange juice (not sure age wise though)
Cool boiled water
Cycling motion with legs

My DD used to get terrible constipation from day dot. She was EBF if that makes any difference...all the above worked for us

Rosehip345 · 15/01/2020 20:20

Just realised they’re 3wks old. If EBF that’s quite normal just make sure there’s plenty of wet ones

Bath, lots of milk. If breastfed dont worry. If bottle fed speak to HV.

WineAt4pm · 15/01/2020 20:21

If breastfed that's fine. Mines not gone since Sunday either and I'm waiting for the total tsunami when it appears! Try bicycle legs and gently massaging their tummy in a clockwise motion/

dementedpixie · 15/01/2020 20:24

It's not always fine at 3 weeks if bf. Normally changes in bowel habits start at 5-6 weeks. Maybe speak to your hv

Selfsettling3 · 15/01/2020 20:26

Bicycle legs, anti-colic massage and put them in your favourite baby grow and go out. The last one always seem to guarantee a poo.

Breast and formula. I express and top him up with formula. Thank you ladies will give these a try. Im expecting him to go either during the night or when im on my own and OH gets away with not helping cleaning up ha!

Put him in his nicest outfit and be slightly late for an appointment/meet up. That'll do it.
(Same principle as white jeans & periods!)

Tummy rub and bicycle legs helped with DS.

Bab0804 · 15/01/2020 20:48

Sorry forgot to say plenty of wet nappies
