Coping with toddler behaviour after new baby

Hello all Smile

I had my little boy just over a week ago. I already have a 2.5 year old daughter. To say I'm taken aback at the change in her behaviour since he was born is a bit of an understatement Confused I did expect a change but not to such an extreme - most days are full of tantrums, throwing things around, being quite stand-offish towards me but then crying for me at night etc. I've had a section which makes things more difficult as I can't pick her up or cuddle her properly yet and it's heartbreaking to see her reaction. Plus the newborn is so dependent on me at the mo.

For anyone who has gone through this, how long did the behaviour last and any tips to try and get through it with sanity intact??? X

Is your DH/DP around OP? Make sure they have plenty of one to one time with her and also get them to take the baby when they can. Could she for example lie by you whilst you read to her?

He'll be around for another week before going back to work (is a police officer so lots of shifts and we'll hardly see him then). I've had to try and explain to him that she's still a toddler - he's not as patient as me with her so she's getting a bit of a rough deal on that front too at the mo 🙈

I've decided to combi feed which means I can hand over some of the feeding to him giving me more time to try and play with her even if just briefly. I'm just hoping to see light at the end of the tunnel at some point soon!
