potty training

my own dc are very much grown. My grandaughter is approaching 4. she is out of nappies in the day unless she needs a poo. She no longer uses a potty and wees on the toilet but flat out refuses to poo anywhere other than a nappy or occasionally her knickers. My daughter is a touch fretful about this. Just looking for positive experiences or helpful advice please

We’ve just overcome the ‘only pooing in the pants’ stage with my dd who is 3yrs and 3 months. I unashamedly bribed her Grin.
She’s so stubborn, she takes after me.

I bribed her with really good quality toys; things she just couldn’t pass up. She likes a sticker, but that was never going to be enough to break the cycle.

I cruelly showed her a selection of things she could win then put them away until she ‘won’ one by putting her poo in the toilet.
I also bought a sticker chart but didn’t use it in the end because I needed her to do it once and be rewarded, not work towards a reward.

Also we talked about it until I found the language that worked for her best - turns out she related to making her bottom pump work!?!?! BlushGrin
She came up with that herself. She just couldn’t relate to the phrasing I was using that I picked up from books.

Best of luck to you and your daughter. You’re gd sounds like a clever wee thing - she knows what she likes and she’s going for it. Wink
