Weaning advise!

Can I start weaning my 19 week old boy? He sleeps all night but during day he has a 8 ounce bottle every 2-3 hours. He is never settled in the day time! Will baby rice in the morning help?

No, not unless you seek medical advice first. Talk to your hv. And weaning won’t help sleep, more calories in milk than any purée or whatever.

Try him with some porridge for breakfast.

There’s no reason to. If he’s sleeping all night, he’s obviously getting all he needs. Weaning usually messes with their digestion and causes disrupted sleep. If you are getting sleep, I’d make the most of it now while it lasts!

Weaning can often make sleep worse as milk is higher in calories than food so they fill up in

Medical advice is not to wean until 26 weeks due to the risk of causing life long health problems.

Very, very few babies if that age are sleeping through the night. I wouldn’t change a single thing.
