Seen a lady on a thread today with 9 children. Jurelle I think she's called.

OrmIrian · 28/08/2007 15:21

somebody here has 7 - including 2 sets of twins

stressteddy · 28/08/2007 15:24

Stressteddy wanders in and goes away again feeling quite nauseous

We were at the zoo today and there was what appeared to be a family group with 10 children, ages about 0-14, no twins.
I must admit we couldn't help staring

The children were all beautifully behaved, and the older ones helped look after the younger ones. The mother looked in great shape too for having carried/delivered ten babies. I was in awe.

I was more fascinated by them than the lemurs and babboons.

mintchips · 28/08/2007 15:47

My SIL has 8!!

PinkMartini · 28/08/2007 15:49

Um shouldn't that be in a media request? I know NappyAddict has posted it and not the production company themselves but...

FlameBatfink · 28/08/2007 16:07

Which zoo Roisin?? Psychomum has 5 but often has extras come along for the ride - she was going to Marwell today

TigerFeet · 28/08/2007 16:12

roisin, my Mum was often stared at in awe during family outings, she was with 6 kids, three of her own and three cousins. We were all slightly different in age, with about 10 years between youngest and oldest, so could conceivably have been siblings. Mum got to get rid of three of us at the end of the day though

roisin · 28/08/2007 16:36

It wasn't Marwell!

We had 5 children in my family, and had a minibus (no MPVs in those days); but 10 really is quite a lot.

Actually I saw them again later in the day and could only count 9. I wonder whether they'd lost one along the way, or whether I miscounted earlier!

FingerInTheMash · 28/08/2007 16:37

Dear lord! do people not have self control?

SueBaroo · 28/08/2007 16:38

I know someone with 12. I know someone else with 17, but some of those are adopted...

self control??

maybe they wanted that many FiTM

KTeePee · 28/08/2007 17:04

I am always slightly amused that even three is considered to be a large family nowadays.... seven was considered to be a largish family when I was growing up but was certainly not unusual enough to make a documentary about

FingerInTheMash · 28/08/2007 17:09

I should hope they did LTH. Your point?

LadyTophamHatt · 28/08/2007 17:16

well, questioning their self control sounds like you mean they couldn't stop. That they had more and more because they didn't know how to stop IYSWIM.

harleyd · 28/08/2007 17:20

wow, imagine 7! we are frequently called the von trapps in our local, and we only have 4 lol

We have a big family holiday with my cousins each year, and generally end up with 11 or 12 children between us. So it quite frequently happens that one of us will go into a shop or down the road with 8 or 9 kids in tow, and yes people do gawp very openly.

Mog · 28/08/2007 19:47

It's not for me as we stopped at three (see other thread) but if you are the type who can cope with this many children then I think it's a wonderful thing to do with your life. You'll have a really happy old age I'll bet.

BrownSuga · 28/08/2007 20:28

my nan had 13 kids, she died young though (54) must really take it out of you.

nappyaddict · 29/08/2007 00:50

furball you're talking about twinmummyx2 with the 2 sets of twins i think. she has 8 though not 7 so maybe there's someone else?
