Congratulations peony

Never mind being due at Christmas, you are very brave trying to potty train a 2 year old boy. Personally I would leave it until a)you are sure he is absolutely ready (unless that is now) or until he's 3. I say this as someone who tried to potty train ds at 2.4 and spent several months scraping poo out of pants (a lot more work than nappies)!

I have a 19 month gap between ds and dd. Tips are: lower your standards generally and don't worry about it, get your ds a doll and read him some books about having a sibling, if you are going to breastfeed get a breastfeeding box and fill it with toys he can only have when you are breastfeeding, take help where you can get it, let your ds watch tv some of the time and don't worry about it, sleep when you can (and really do it this time) and spend some concentrated one to one time every day with your ds when your baby is asleep, even if only for 20 minutes. Expect some playing up by your ds when the baby starts crawling, again when it starts walking etc and give him a year to fully adjust.

Mine are 3.5 and 2 now and they play together really well now - it is lovely (most of the time!)

Thanks Petitfilou for the advice, I sometimes wish I could fast forward those first couple of months!

I am going to see how the potty training goes , really there is no rush for me to train him as he won't be going to pre school until September next year (if he gets in as he was born in July, the cut off point for the next year at school).. The scraping poo doesn't sound pleasant at all as now Im actaully starting to get bigger , am feeing v. clumsy indeed

i wouldn't bother potty traiing him yet. They can regress when a sibling arrives so you could end up doing it twice. of course your DS1 might not!

my biggest tip about being a mum of 2....take each day as it comes
