HV- is this normal?

I've only met my HV once when DD was very young- think she was 10 days old. At 6 weeks old, another HV phoned me and asked me how DD and I were getting along over the phone.
I haven't heard anything since and DD is now 4 months. Is this normal? How often do you see yours?

Not sure if it makes any difference but I had a straightforward recovery and no PND or feeding struggles.

Sounds very normal to me. In my tidy they see you at day 12 (or whenever you're signed off from the midwives) then again 6 week check. No official contact then until the 9-12 month review and then the 2 yr review.

In my area they have weekly weigh in / drop in clinics yuh can attend if you want

As far as I know it's normal. I only saw mine once to check baby after birth and had a call to see if we were okay. They've just been in contact to arrange his one year check. I've called them once for advice in the meantime.

Agree sounds normal. We are also given a list of local drop in sessions where you can get baby weighed / ask questions if you want go attend but no other formal appointments until 1 year.

You should have seen your GP at 6/8 weeks.

You'll get an appointment/contact from the HV (or a nursery nurse) for developmental checks at around 9-12 months and 2-2.5 years.

Other than that there should be a drop in clinic you can attend if you have a query or want to have your baby weighed.

Like most services HV has been cut to the bone in the last decade.

I saw mine up until my little one was 3 weeks old (he wasnt putting on weight) then ive only seen them because i take him monthly to be weighed.

It’s pretty normal. They’ve added a visit at 6 months in my area to ‘touch base’ which I think is good but that was only with dc5(2) with the older 4 it’s what you describe. You can call them if you ever need them though Smile
