Can I please have some advice on a routine for my 7m old. We are stuck in a rut and have barely any routine i am getting barely any sleep and he is barely napping. Just any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and happy new year!

Happy new year! Try not to worry about not having a routine yet, you can build one that works for your needs. Once you’ve got your routine consistency is key. Just know that When it works for mum it will work for baby.

I’m going to presume that you’ve started weaning with him already. This is just an example but obviously make it work for you. For example, when do you want baby to get up / go to nap / go to bed. Do you have things in your day where nap time would be more beneficial etc.

7:00-7:15 - wake & milk
8:00- breakfast
9.00 - sleep, usually 90 mins
10.45 - milk followed by play/interaction
Midday - lunch
13.00 - sleep, 60-90 mins
15.00 - milk followed by play/interaction
16.30 - tea
17.30 - bath
18.15 - milk and bedtime

You’ll find that once your start the routine that baby will give you cues, of when he’s tired and just tweak accordingly. Sometimes the hardest part is knowing where to start!

Baby’s of his age nap for 2-3hours per day, some days they won’t, but with the right routine for him then you should get those extra hours in the day, and most of all be able to catch up on some sleep.

Good luck! X
