New mum looking for advice!
I have a 5 and a half week old baby girl, I think she is suffering from colic. She takes ages to wind and appears to be in pain and really cries when she is being winded. The last few days she seems to be in loads of pain and takes hours to settle down. Once she has settels she brings her legs up to her tummy and starts crying well more like screaming.
I have tried infercol and gripe water and non seem to work. She is currently on SMA first milk.
Has anyone tried the comfort or anti colic milks? And if so do they seem to work?
Any advice would be so much appreciated as I have no idea what else to do to help my baby girl.

Thank you in advance and sorry for the essay!

Don’t use comfort or anti colic milks for a 5 week old baby without talking to a dr first. They contain thickeners and other not great things and a baby so young doesn’t need them.

Young baby’s stomach also aren’t used to having formula so it can take a while for them to feel comfortable digesting food.

Have you been to your gp?

My 3rd child was like this for 5mths. We have just seen the light. We tried everything and was recommended goats milk. Game changer from the first bottle. Nanny care.
I'm finally enjoying him. It's so hard
There were days I was pulling my hair out and crying. Best of luck to you. This too shall pass

Personally I hate the word colic. It was used a lot when my 2 week old baby suddenly cried all day every day. It’s likely a digestive issue. In my DS case that was silent reflux. I would look it up and then see a doctor. You could try anti colic bottles such as dr browns - my son got on well with these although they leak a lot. We’ve just changed to mam and these are better and also anti colic

Also check for tongue tie. My sons wasn’t picked up and he had a posterior tongue tie which could have caused or affected his latch aggravating the reflux.

Also could be an allergy such as CMPA. The doctors usually work through these things - gaviscon (does nothing except constipate) , omeprazole and then a special formula that has broken down protein for allergies.

Comfort milk didn’t help my son. The winning combo for us was anti reflux milk and omeprazole but it depends on the cause of the ‘colic’ and how bad it is.

Look up silent reflux. My son was never sick at all so I dismissed reflux for ages until a friend mentioned it.

Best of luck, hope little one is ok xx
