Giving a baby medicine

We have recently tried a couple of times to give our baby some gripe water to settle his stomach but he hates it and if we give it to him a little at a time in a syringe he gets so worked up he stops himself breathing for a couple of seconds. We have also tried to give it to him through a teat and in a medicine dummy which doesn't work. I read that it's bad to dilute it in his milk so I haven't done that. Does anyone have any tips on how to give him medicine without him getting really worked up?

I find a tiny bit in the mouth, dummy til it’s swallowed, take it out and tiny bit more, repeat. You want about 1/10th of a 2.5ml syringe at a time, so 10 goes in total. Tends to work with way less fuss and no spitting out
