Have you ever said no to your child when they when something and than someone in the family give it to the them. So that child is spoil. How will that child learn. Very time they cry for something they get it from a family member, ever when parent said no to them.
Parenting is so hard and being a parent is so hard.

How much time do they spend with the other family. I don't think it does much harm occasionally if rules and boundaries are struck to at home

We currently have this issue with mil. We find it causes behaviour issues in our eldest who is nearly 3. We are currently trying to work out what to do about it

I have this with my mum. She undermines me all the time with my 6 year old. I've tried talking to her. The behaviour of my 6 year old when granny is here is appalling. My last resort is to see granny less as I've tried other options. I feel for you. Its infuriating and makes me dread seeing my parents. And it's really not good for my daughter but they can't see it.
