Wind, wind and more wind in 4 month old - keeping her awake, any ideas?

Have been on here many a time, whinging about my unsettled baby. She has had bad wind, reflux, vomiting, poor sleep from outset. Is now on gaviscon and seems a bit better during day. However, recently wind at night has got so much worse. She wakes more often and we hear her doing these almighty farts, sometimes drops back off but more often than not will wake herself. Then can occasionally rock back to sleep or when really bad will end up feeding. However, feeding not helping much as makes her windy again. Also getting up much earlier in morning and tired all day cos still not great at doing long naps. Could gaviscon be making wind worse do you think, I mix it with expressed breast milk. Or any other ideas? Worried that the late 10.30 feed making it bad cos she doesnt really bring up wind then as too sleepy.

Pevie, sounds like your having a rough time of it, haven't seen your other threads so am probably telling you things you already know but have you tried any of the old wives tales such as gripe water or a bottle of cooled (but still warm) boiled water instead of a late feed?

These might help somewhat, both of my ds's were very windy, nowhere near as bad as you're suffering but would fart themselves awake several times a night! Still give gripe water to my 5 year old to good effect.

May also be worth looking at baby massage especially for the tummy, if you rub clockwise you help move the wind through the gut, check this out properly before doing it but it does help to very noisy effect, but can be done when it suits you rather than the middle of the night!

Pevie my dd is nearly 8 months old now but she wasa very windy ba

by. HV told me to lay her on her side and rub the bottom of her back and pat it as it helps shift it. Don't know if it works or if its just the motion of patting that stopped her crying.

Midwife told me that if you eat things that make you windy ie, sprouts, curry etc they will also make your baby windy as they pass through your milk?

My dd has doesn't fart as much now but when she does they are really loud and sometimes hurt her. Its difficult to tell the difference between hers and DP's!
