Baby monitor help?

Looking to get a baby monitor for our little one and hoping to take advantage of the sales but already feeling a bit overwhelmed by the variety of options!
I know I want a video one but my main concern is positioning it to enable us to see the baby - what setup do you have?
I'm worried if I buy a regular one, sitting the camera on the chest of drawers opposite the cot wont work as we would barely see the baby through the cot bars?
I've seen some clip on camera positioners on Ebay that could attach to the side of the cot but not sure if that would be reliable, does anyone on here use anything like that?
Alternatively, looking at the motorola halo which gives a view from above which seems ideal. It's more expensive but could be worth it.
Any advice welcome from those of you who have a good setup going... TIA!

We've got a BT one - it's just angled to point into the cot and sits on a nearby shelf. One of our favourite bits of kit.

I wouldn't use something clipped onto the side of the cot - my DS would have had it off in seconds even as a younger baby!

We got a cheapy non brand one from Amazon. It's sat on bedside table at the moment but when she goes into a cot in her own room it will be mounted on the wall. It tilts and can be swiveled and it has a slot on the back to hook onto a screw. I've been really impressed with it for £50!

We've got a Samsung webcam, works for us!

Cheapy from amazon (like £20 or less) and it’s better sound than the BT one we had. The camera has a tiny screw holding it on the wall at the foot of his cot and you can see 9/10th of the cot (just the bottom where his feet start doesn’t make it in) it’s got battery back up and a power saving mode that it only turns on if it hears a sound, I don’t use that feature personally as I like to just check visually if I’m up for the loo without opening his door or turning on any lights and risking waking him. Pictures also really clear at night.

We use the yolle baby monitor holder (search on Amazon) with our Motorola video monitor. You can position it for a birds eye view really easily. Been using it for over a year and it works really well

We’ve got a great bt one (can’t remember the model) but it clips to the wall and points directly down at baby. Had no issues with it and take it with us when we go away as it is clips from it’s mount.

*unclips from its mount

I would definitely recommend a monitor holder, clipped on to the cot and easily moveable, now that my LG is in a bed we moved the holder to the wardrobe and still allows for a great view

Great, thanks all for sharing!
Good to know the monitor holders seem to work 🤞

We didn’t have a suitable shelf/ surface to put our BT camera on & have successfully used the sticky command strips on the wall so no as not to damage the wall
