Been a lovely day and morning until he got his most talked present and he was so happy over it. I had to assemble it and it took me ages and when I've done it he tries it on and it wasnt working for him he just threw it away and was angry at it. I just went into the loo and had a roll and composing myself.

Came out and then I started to build the marble run. He started trashing it as well because I wasnt building it fast enough.

And everytime I get angry he gets angry too. So now xmas is over for us. I will never buy him any presents again it's like what's the bloody point anyway wasting my money!! Xmas Angry

Sounds like he’s quite overwhelmed it’s a lot of build up for them especially at 5
Perhaps take some time out both of you
Put the stuff away if you can maybe spend a bit of time with him doing something else, a walk or a book. I have 4 so Christmas Day can be a bit fraught with so many personalities.
If he feeds off your anger try to not get quite so mad but understand calmly remove his toy and tell him he’ll get it back once he’s ready to play nice.
I do triple p parenting with mine so v positive and calm (really hard& exhausting at times) as youngest has additional needs.
Hope you can claw it back and enjoy the rest of your day perhaps bring back each item over time so he can appreciate it more.

I do go and calm myself down...in the loo with a fag lol. Yeah xmas can be overwhelming and it's me with high expectations that let's me down. Its chill now we gonna read a book with his name on. Xmas Grin

He's five and over whelmed. Maybe next year build it before so he doesn't have to wait for it.
