I don't know what has happened to my 5 year old DS, he is constantly arguing with us and answering back.
I'm not sure if this is a phase but its really getting me down 😭 and quite honestly feeling like a shit mum. What am I doing wrong??

We've tried lots of different things - too many to list! But feels like we end up back with him doing the same thing 20 minutes later and so what we are doing is clearly not having much impact! 🙁

I could really do with some advice or some new strategies!

Feel like I'm living with a moody teenager!!

Don't try everything!
Be consistent with your principles of what is and is not acceptable. Enforce the clear rules simply.

Be prepared to have to go to great lengths to enforce to start with (missing trips, hour in time out etc)

@queenqueenqueen Has he started school this year? My son now 6 was awful this time last year.

We have house points system where he gets a point regularly when he's shown good behaviour. Works up to 25 points a time for a small reward. It's the same system that they use in school do that works really well for him.

Re: bad behaviour we use the naughty step, take away device time (he is only allowed it for set periods on the weekend), on a couple of occasions took away all his Lego for 24 hours as punishment.

We were having to do this quite frequently last year, but touch wood he's been a lot better of late.
