4 week old crying & unsettled after every feed

After every feed my 4 week old cries and wriggles around for a good while. When being winded she brings up milk often too. HV said trapped wind but no matter how much I wind her I can't seem to make her comfortable. Advice?

It may be possible that there's some reflux, especially if she squirming if bringing up milk.

Could be wind, reflux, cmpa. Have you tried keeping her upright for a while after feeds?
Mine was very windy but it turned out to be cmpa.
It’s very difficult

Speak to your GP or HV about reflux, they may be able to give you gaviscon to prevent it.

HV dismissed reflux but I'm not convinced! Also said she's not displaying any signs of CMPA. I'll try keeping her upright for longer!

We are trying infacol with my 2 week old on the advice on the HV. We weren't sure whether to bother as there's no evidence it works but anecdotally, a few people I mentioned it to said it had helped. I've tried it and it does seem easier to bring up his wind now so it may be working.

I read somewhere of the air bubbles get trapped under milk then they can bring some up with the burps.

My baby gulps very loudly when feeding so you can hear the air going in. Is that the same for yours? I have fast let down too so I think that's why.

@TowelStripes I can hear her gulp when she begins feeding and as my letdown begins so maybe it is wind! I'll have a look into infacol - thank you!

My little one now 3years struggled badly with trapped wind whilst baby. I eneded up trying infacol worked a bit but them I found boots own brand of gripe water. It was amazing. It was apple flavour so he liked it but the burps were amazing no more winding for hours and still crying. Good luck
And congrats.

Could be Colic x

Does she have a tongue tie at all that can interfere with feeding.

Could be a lactose intolerance.my DS was like this ... symptoms improved massively once we put him on lactose free formula. Once we got it diagnosed by a doctor we got the formula on prescription.

We had similar and it was a lactase deficiency- basically baby couldn't fully digest lactose. Colief helped loads (you can get it in most pharmacies where the infacol is). I went dairy free but as there's lactose in breastmilk it didn't help. Colief helped from the first feed.

I used Infacol for about 3 weeks when mine did similar, it definitely got the wind up. Once she was 7-8 weeks she no longer needed it.
