Hi lovely mummies!

I need some advice please. Usually I'd just go to A&E but we have poor DS1 - 10Yo - in bed with a sickness bug so want to avoid dragging him out unless I need to!

Our 8 month old was doing some sofa surfing along the back of the sofa and decided to take a nose dive over the back to follow a toy he had found! The sofa is low backed so wasn't any higher than say the average bed, but he landed with such a thud I keep playing it over and over!
He cried for a few minutes maybe more out of shock but has breastfed as normal and doesn't have any obvious marks aside from a red patch on his cheek when he landed.
Is now napping next to me and seems ok but would you ladies go to hospital just to check?!

I'd maybe just keep an eye on him - my DC had a similar fall at that age - I checked for any obvious bumps and then monitored for any temperature or prolonged crying which suggested they were in pain? Also kept an eye out during nap time that they weren't overly sleepy/not as alert when they woke up

I'm sure he ll be fine x

Yes if it was me I would go to A and E incase he has a head injury that symptoms haven't shown up for yet.

Children fall and bump themselves all the time - not that it should matter but you may also have to deal with over zealous medical professionals who always err on the side of caution and refer any child injury to social services

Monitor for a couple of hours and see how he is x

Thank you in getting an emergency app at GP which seemed like a good middle ground! And at least no waiting around for our other son while he's unwell
