When does child benefit stop?

My eldest is 18 soon and at the start of year 13-off to university next year. Does it stop at their 18th birthday or in the July when they leave school?

The July that they leave school I believe

FoamingAtTheUterus · 09/12/2019 13:00

It stops the year they turn 20 if still in education or training.

It doesnt continue if they go to Uni

Up to nineteenth birthday, strictly speaking the day before I suppose.

When your child leaves approved education or training, payments will stop at the end of February, 31 May, 31 August or 30 November (whichever comes first).

Depends when the school year finishes. So if your child leaves in july it would look like payments would end at the end of August

dementedpixie · 09/12/2019 13:07

OP will not get CB for a child at Uni

PencilsInSpace · 09/12/2019 13:08

Last day in August after he leaves school.

TheFormidableMrsC · 09/12/2019 13:10

I received it until my daughter finished college but it stopped when she started uni.

Livedandlearned · 09/12/2019 13:10

Mine stopped the day he left full time education aged 17

No most correct just some more specific with the date .
You get child benefit until they leave school unless they go into education so then 18 . The date not sure but it will be the summer when they leave full time education.
You will get a form when they turn 16 to confirm going into full time education so payments will continue.

dementedpixie's answer is correct. Just don't let him officially leave school before 1st June or you'll be down 2 months' worth of CB.

PencilsInSpace · 09/12/2019 13:31

3 months I mean
