hi all,

just after a bit of advice and ways to cope with this. I suspect my 2 week old daughter may have reflux. following symptoms:

sicks up if not held upright immediately after feeding
coughs/sounds like shes choking a few minutes feed
wheezy when asleep
very difficult to settle during the night and wakes up constantly (think every 40 minutes from midnight onwards)
arches her back in pain/frustration
bubbles at her mouth fairly often
throws up occasionally during her feeds

not only do I feel for her as it seems shes in discomfort but I am also despairing as I dont sleep at all during the night either due to this cycle and am then useless during the day. just doesnt seem normal to be this bad at sleeping although I know sleepless nights is normal I'm really not sure these symptoms plus waking quite this frequently is. debating calling 111 now just to make sure I dont have a reason to be concerned right now.

her nappies are normal and she doesnt have a temperature.

anyone have experience with reflux - if so what did you do? think will take her to the gp tomorrow and see what they suggest

thanks!

Yes some of the symptoms do sound like reflux, my daughter is on gaviscon and lanzaprosol, she has vomiting reflux (after every feed) which is controlled by gaviscon and silent reflux which is controlled by lanzaprosol, take her to the doctors.

Yep deffo sounds like reflux all 3 of mine has had it. Just pop to the gp or phone health visitor and you should get something for it. You can buy over the counter stuff called carobel which is just a milk thickner.

Does sound a bit like reflux. I would take them to the GP and discuss. I know it’s a pain when you are extremely sleep deprived and tired but try and hold bubba upright if you can, I found popping baby in a sling after feeds really helped with reflux.
