My DD is 5 and a half months old. When someone is holding her, she will quote easily fall asleep against their chest. So she's laying on her belly. As soon as you put her in her bed on her back she wakes up. Can you put them to sleep in their beds when they aren't even 6 months old yet. I never know what the right thing to do is. You hear things like SIDS and it just makes me panic.

Babies should be put down to sleep on their backs. Once they can roll then they might choose to sleep another way, but it's important they can get there under their own steam so you still place them down on their back.

Always put her down on her back. If she's able and wants to she'll put herself on to her side/ tummy. My DS has JUST started doing this at 6 months and his sleep has improved tenfold. Putting her on her tummy yourself will increase the risk of SIDS. She'll do it in her own time. Frustrating though it is having to wait!
