1yr Old barely eating

My one year old has a terrible cough and cold whilst teething at the same time. However, he has really lost interest in food and all he wants to do is snack on cold food like yoghurts and fruit. Its got to the point where I'm preparing 3 different things each meal time in the hope he will eat something. I'm so worried about him not eating proper meals and just eating fruit all day :( anybody else had this experience?

Thank you x

Hi Op try not to worry my DS is 2.8 years old and he goes through stages of eating and just wanting to snack instead he's recently gotten over a sickness bug where he was unable to even keep water down let alone food.

It's likely your DS is feeling rotten with the cold and teething so I would just provide snacks for him to nibble on throughout the day and plenty of fluids milk water etc

Cheese spread on toast, carry on with the yoghurts and fruit that's good in itself it will pass in a few days so long as he's still producing enough wet and dirty nappies he will be fine worrying I know I still get days when I worry about my DS

Dont focus on meals just focus on getting him to eat little and often. Scrambled egg is our go to food. Offer crackers or rice cakes with the fruit to give it some substance. Bread sticks and hummus. He'll eat eventually

Yes it’s normal when they’re sick/teething - but I get it’s worrying. Just keep up with offering little and often and I usually increase the amount of milk they’re having if they’re off their food

Agree. It's pretty normal. Both of mine go through feast and famine stages. 2 yo spent the last week currently mostly just drinking milk. She got her appetite back today though and is eating nearly normally. Teething and illness seem to have a huge impact on their appetite.

Quite normal. Keep offering food but don't worry if he doesnt eat much, he will make up for it when he's feeling better

Totally normal when they are sick or teething. I would offer my DS his favourite foods until he got better. Good luck!
