Nutramigen?

Hello my 5 week old has just been prescribed with this nutramigen milk as they think he is allergic to cows milk but it says on the tin that he should only be having 5 bottles a day? He is a very hungry baby and has more than 5. Also he sometimes takes the bottle and sometimes don’t so I’m not sure if he actually likes the milk? I was thinking of getting the aptamil lactose intolerance milk has anyone tried that?

More than 5 is fine. You cant give the lactose free milk as it still contains cows milk protein (lactose is the sugar in milk)

@dementedpixie it’s only a small tin though so it’s not Guna last him a month?

Ask for more on the prescription. You cant give him a milk with cows milk protein in it if he cant digest it

The bottles and amounts on the side are a guideline. The same as with standard formula... Give him as much as he wants, as often as he wants, he's tiny!

Nutramigen is hydrolysed for cows milk protein allergy babies. Lactose is a cows milk sugar which does not often affect infants. Lactose free formula is no good at all for cmpa babies.

The 400g tin should last 2-4 days depending on how hungry baby is and how much waste. Unless your pharmacist happens to keep it in stock (many only order in as and when you need it, usually next day at the soonest), you need another prescription asap to continue the trial with this milk. Make sure the dr understands how much you need per day.

It tastes awful. Baby will hopefully get used to it. Good luck!
