cotton bottom nappies for newborn?

just looking for possible nappies for baby #3, and have found cotton bottoms system (plus its the only one i can buy in this town without resorting to the internet). I am wondering if they are good for newborns and the 1st few months. they look quite sweet, and not as bulky as totsbots, and considering i remember changing the dd's nappies upto 15times a day (poopey kids) in the early days seems like they would dry quicker than tots as well. Would they make a good daytime nappy?

Think we would switch to totsbots when baby is bigger as they hold a lot, especially at night.

misdee, Cotton Bottoms will certainly dry quicker than Tots, and are not as bulky, but I've heard reports that they're not great for "containment". I haven't used them for dd (a confirmed Tots user!)but I'm sure there will be someone along who has! You could just buy a couple of wraps and a few prefolds to start with, and try them out- I don't think their starter packs are too expensive.

JL have the starter pack, and its £45, and dont stock the trial pack, so am looking on ebay.

I@m trying to cut down on my tumble dryer usage (now on 3rd dryer in 6years, not good in my eyes) and think tots will take too long to dry seeing baby will be born march and wont be able to hang as much out of the line then.

i used the cottom bottoms for ds2 when he was newborn and they were fine....you can actually buy the shaped one size nappies and use them as booster pads as well if your baby is a heavy wetter.

actually, me getting mixed up, i used the cotton bottoms nappies but the wraps were crap. i used them with dd.....the bambino mio wraps are better. the mio-lite is a better one for heavy wetters. I used them for ds2. sorry!!

Both DS and DD were in cotton bottoms (DD) still is and no 3 will be hopefully in a weeks time! Few leaks but I think thats newborns for you, certainly dry fine. DD doesn't wear them at night but DS did so I think it depends on the baby to some extent. They have them in the hospital here so that is one chance to try them! Also you could try the laundry service (used it with DS)and therefore try before you buy! I was lucky somebody gave me my present set so some will have been used for 4 babies - now thats what I call reusable!
