Just a quick one, anyone with a 12 week old (or there abouts!) What do your babies do in a day? Routine? Awake time?

11+3 here, no routine at all (I’m not keen on idea of routine in little ones, prefer to be baby led).
We get up anytime between 8 and 9.30 usually. We go to a couple of baby groups so days are different depending on what day it is. We usually meet up with NCT group for lunch or cake too most weeks. One day my parents come up most weeks too.

I generally find she wants a nap within a couple of hours of getting up and another lunchtime-ish and a third early eve but if we are out then that doesn’t necessarily happen.

We bed share so she goes to bed when I do, any time between 9 and 11pm and we feed on demand (EBF) so that varies hugely.

I only do baths twice a week generally but trying to do a vague change for bed/bath early eve now but sometimes don’t bother.

Also try to do a book a day, a couple of goes on baby gym and a walk. The rest of the time she’s in sling/bouncer and I just talk to her all day telling her what I’m doing or we have music on and do singing. Rest of the time is cuddles. She doesn’t sleep much in the day really but does sleep 11-8ish with just one wake up for feed around 3-4am so not too bad.

My baby is 12 weeks! Hes just started having more awake time in the day and going longer between feeds at night, probably awake for 2 hours at a time and has half hour naps in between these with a longer 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon or around lunch time.
We dont have much of a routine at all, but put him to sleep about 8ish and hes just started going 6 / 7 hours until his first feed yay
We do lots of talking during the day and he likes laying in his jungle gym or in his swing and laughing at the toys when I have things to do.
Isn't this age great Smile

@Megan2018 thank you! How long would you say naps are during the day usually?

@BumpLoading ah that's good! My DS is about 2 hours then down for an hour or half an hour something like that. He generally sleeps through the night and has been for about 3/4 weeks now but waiting for all that to change with sleep regression 🙈 he's a real cat napper sometimes so I find it hard to work out how much sleep he's had sometimes!

That's good you've had him sleeping through the night for so long already! I probably let mine nap too much during the day or hes just a greedy baby Blush

Our naps are 30 mins-3hrs, she’ll nap in the car for pretty much the whole journey. In the sling she’ll easily do 2hrs+, usually I wake her up when my boobs hurt!

If we are home I’d say the morning one is shortest, usually 30-45 mins. Middle one is 2hrs or so, evening is 1hr or so.

She’ll also drop off when feeding sometimes but they are just very short so don’t count them as naps.

She's always been quite extreme though, when awake she is very awake and for far longer than newborns are expected. When asleep she is very asleep and for longish spells. I’m not going to attempt interfering though until we are through the regression, at the moment we have such lovely nights so the days don’t matter so much (we just feed lying down and nod back off together, no getting up required).

@megan2018 when you say you have cuddles, is that just holding whilst awake? Or does your LO drop off?

She’s usually awake, she’s quite happy being held close whilst I watch TV, do online shopping etc - or with me just doing different faces and chatting nonsense whilst he babbles away. I spend a disproportionate amount of time just looking at her in amazement and smothering her with kisses tbh! Blush

11 weeks old here & similar story really! Every day seems to be different and spend lots of it chatting to him about nonsense!
