Hi all, my little boy is just under a week old and I have been having a torrid time breastfeeding on one side, it's absolute agony from start to finish. My midwife suggested trying a nipple shield, can anyone recommend a particualr brand? Preferably one I can buy in a shop as opposed to ordering online.

We used both Medela and mam. Slightly preferred mam as they can be popped in the microwave to sterilise in their pot, depends whether you have a steriliser already.

There isn’t necessarily one better brand than another, the most important thing to consider is the size of them, vs the size of your own nipple. Boots usually have some in, often a few to chose from, so it’s worth going and having a look and seeing which looks like they’d ‘fit’ you best.
There may only be a tiny noticeable difference in size, but that will help with their fit

Although looking at the size of them may be easier said than done when they’re all packagers you

Medela worked for me. They do different sizes depending on nipple diameter. I imagine it's a personal thing and different things might work for different people.
I got mine in mothercare (harumph) but they are pretty widely available.
