Worried about baby's weight

My baby is one and only weighting 8lbs. He was a small premature baby, no health issues, and he's always grown in line with the growth chart (but around the 0 percentile).
I just noticed he's now been wearing the same size for a long time and his weight is not going up very quickly. He's eating loads, making good progress with solid food, all milestones met, no problems in any department.
So I guess my question is: how do they grow from one year on? Is it normal it takes more time to grow out of clothes now compared to the first months of life?
I think I will see the doctors just in case.

Your one year old weighs 8lbs? Really? Or is that a typo?

I'm amazed that no one has picked up on it already.
Take him to the doctor ASAP.

Do you mean 18 lb?

Confusedbeetle · 28/11/2019 14:37

depending how prem he was I think you need to go to the GP to discuss normal weight increses for your baby and developmnetal milestones which can take up to 2 years to catch up with peers

Do you mean 8kg?

As in my HV book the 0.4 centile line at 1 year is just over 7kg. Which is about 15lbs

I assume its 18lb? Maybe share the amount of milk/food he has in a day with us and we can see whether it's line with our 1 year olds. Also second speaking to HV. My 9 month old stopped putting weight on and I noticed as they stayed in 6 to 9 month clothing for quite a while. Mine wasnt prem though and I just upped food and milk and she caught up.

Yes I did the translation kgs to pounds and who knows how I decided to write 8. No, he's 7,3kg which is 16 pounds.
Milestones and development all fine: he's about to walk, very active and alert, good fun, he claps his hands, he's interested in books, musical instruments, he's blabbing some sort of ma-ma-ma ba-ba-ba, getting good at putting toys in and out of boxes, learning how to feed himself with a spoon and all the little things a one year old should more or less do.
I was just hoping for him to speed up the weight gain at this stage. Doctors said he might take up to 2 years but I have been putting the same size clothes to him for a while now.
I will ask the HV if it's time to remove one bottle of milk and replace it with more calories. When I weaned him the pediatrician advised to top up the calories: extra cheese in his meals, full fat milk, butter his toast etc

Perfectly fine then. If hes following his own curve my boy follows the 25th centile and at 2 years old is only now 25lbs so it does massively slow.
